High Holiday Services during Covid-19

At Chabad of the Central Cascades

Dear Friends,

High Holiday Services at Chabad of the Central Cascades are awaited every year for its sense of community and its spiritual energy boost that it gives people all year long. The community loves being together, especially in the High Holiday season. That’s the time of year when we all charge up our batteries.

This year, we need to be creative to provide High Holiday services albeit in a safe way for all. Our goals are to provide you with much needed inspiration and a sense of connection to the community and to G‑d as we begin the New Year.

Based on responses from our High Holiday survey, CDC guidelines, and advice from our doctors and rabbinical authorities, we will be holding services in an outdoor large open tent. Each service will be limited in numbers and in duration to ensure social distance. We will also be having a special family Rosh Hashanah Shofar experience and Tashlich ceremony.

Please help us as we prepare for you and reserve for the service you would like to attend.  Reservations are required this year as services will be capped per size.

Safety Protocols:

The following protocols will apply for the High Holiday Services:

●       Hand sanitizer should be used before entering tent.

●       Masks will be required at all times.

●       The seating arrangement will be set 6’ apart.

●       Attendees are encouraged to wear their own Yarmulka & Talis.

●       A Machzor will be supplied for you at your chair.

●       Disinfecting wipes will be available for attendees to sanitize their seat and surrounding surfaces.

●       Social distancing of 6’ must be maintained at all times.

●       Service attendees are requested to come on time to ensure a smooth process.

●       Attendees will be asked to sanitize all hard surfaces in the restrooms before and after each use with materials provided in the bathrooms.

●       Individuals are asked not to attend if they feel even slightly unwell (coughing or sniffling) or if you have been exposed to someone who is a possible Covid-19 carrier. Likewise, if you know anyone has any underlying health issues that put you at greater risk, please stay home.

●       Torah reading will follow special safety procedures

●       Our security team will be securing the premises during all outdoor services.

As always Chabad will provide traditional and inspirational services in a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is no affiliation necessary and no membership fees or tickets. Hebrew/English Prayer-Books will be provided, Individual Break the fast Packets and a spirited, soulful meaningful service you can count on!

These are confusing and challenging times and any decision you make for the High Holidays will be the right one for you. Everyone has their own sets of circumstances that will dictate their comfort level with attending in person services this year. We just want you to have the tools to celebrate the High Holidays in any way you feel is safe.

To that end, Chabad will also help provide you with tools for doing the holidays at home.  Click here for all the tools you'll need for the Holidays at home.
