The Chai Club

A monthly partnership that keeps our doors open, our programs running, and our community thriving.

What is the Chai Club?

The Chai Club is a community of monthly partners who sustain the work of Chabad of Central Cascades. Members commit to a recurring monthly gift — in any amount that’s meaningful to them — to help us serve every Jew who walks through our doors.

The name comes from the Hebrew word chai (חי), which means life. In Hebrew, every letter has a numerical value, and the letters of chai add up to 18. That’s why Jewish giving has long centered on multiples of 18 — each gift is a small affirmation of life.

Our open-door policy

At Chabad of Central Cascades, every Jew is already a member. We don’t charge dues, we don’t ask for building fund payments, and we don’t require affiliation of any kind to join us for Shabbat, holidays, classes, or community events.

But the bills still come every month — rent, utilities, programming, kiddush, holiday celebrations, classes, and the dozens of small things that keep a Chabad House running. Our Chai Club partners are what makes the open door possible.

Why monthly giving matters
1
Predictable support
Recurring gifts let us plan ahead, budget honestly, and say yes to programs we couldn’t otherwise commit to.
2
Every amount counts
Whether it’s $18, $36, or $360 a month, your gift combined with other partners’ gifts is what carries us through the year.
3
A real partnership
Chai Club members are the lifeblood of Chabad — the people whose ongoing commitment makes everything else possible.
